• We produce two substantial newsletters a year which publish news, information, articles, member reports on issues and activities, and book reviews

• We hold an annual conference with international speakers on topics that have included Georgian Dockyards, Dockyard Conservation, British and French Dockyards, Gibraltar, Portsmouth, and Venice (see ‘News‘ on this website for details of the next conference)

• The Transactions of these conferences are published, and are free to members.

• Other publications include a dockyards bibliography, and a list of dockyard workers in 1748.

• We have campaigned actively against several potentially damaging developments at dockyard sites, gaining national and international publicity in 2006 for our efforts to save the Rosia Bay victualling tanks in Gibraltar; We have also submitted an extensive response to the UK government’s White Paper on Heritage Protection for the Twenty-First Century.

• We are jointly responsible for the Navy Board Project, which catalogues and places online the contents of several major collections at the National Archives, Kew, and the National Maritime Museum, Greenwich. See the ‘Record Summary’ on the National Archives’ website for the reference ADM 106.

• We organise trips to foreign dockyards (for example, to Brest and La Rochelle), and annual trips to sites of interest in the United Kingdom; see the News page for more details.

• We provide a one-off grant to 5 dockyard projects to support dockyard museum/dockyard heritage site projects. For details see Projects/Grants for 5 Dockyards Projects
